1# Solid-state Battery Mesoscale Modeling Research Fellow:
We are looking for a self-driven researcher with a strong background in mesoscale materials modeling to perform mesoscale simulations of Li/Na dendrite growth in solid-state batteries and develop machine learning tools to support multiscale modeling for zero-excess solid-state batteries. The successful candidate will have a background in designing and using mesoscale computer models (including CFD, finite element, lattice Boltzmann, and phase-field theory) to address scientific problems. The successful applicant will collaborate with two Research Fellows who focus on atomistic modeling, as well as other Research Fellows and Ph.D. students in Prof. Qiong Cai’s group focusing on mesoscale materials modeling for electrochemical energy devices.

The Burgess lab is looking for a dedicated postdoc to study the role of RNA regulation in virus-host interactions. This fascinating study, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), uses Herpes Simplex 1 (HSV-1) as a model infection to investigate the role of cellular RNAs in pathogen recognition and innate immunity. The study will combine many RNA methods with standard virology techniques to emphasize the role that cellular RNA regulatory circuits play in the diagnosis and resolution of infection. At the University of Surrey’s Stag Hill campus in Guildford (35 minutes by train south of London), you’ll be joining a young research team and a virology research division that is expanding and thriving.
